Doctoral Thesis: “At the centre of the edge: the development of cross-border cultural networks in border cities between Brazil and Uruguay and France and Germany” defended at the University of Brasília (Brazil) and Paris 8 University (France).
Solène Marié holds a joint PhD in International Relations (University of Brasília, Brazil) and Political Science (Paris 8 University, France). Her research focuses on cultural policy, diplomacy and activism in Brazil and in France as well as on cultural development in borderlands. In her thesis on cultural networks in the Brazil-Uruguay and France-Germany borderlands, she analysed the development of these cross-border cultural ecosystems which combine formal and informal dynamics.
She is currently International Relations Manager for Humanities and Social Sciences at France’s national scientific research agency (CNRS). Previously, she has worked as an international cultural producer and manager in France, the United Kingdom and Argentina, notably at Arts Council England and within the production teams of London 2012 Cultural Olympiad large circus and theatre festivals. She has also independently provided expertise on numerous international projects at the crossroads of culture, human rights and migration.
