Doctoral Thesis: Fifty Years Measuring Cultural Engagement: Contributions, Gaps and the Future of Survey, defended at Goldsmiths, University of London.
João Leiva Filho is a Brazilian researcher and cultural entrepreneur. Leiva holds a degree in Economics from USP (University of São Paulo), a Master’s degree in Cinema from USP, and a Master’s degree in Cultural Management from UOC (Open University of Catalonia, Barcelona, Spain). In early 2024, Leiva completed his PhD at Goldsmiths, University of London, at the Institute for Creative and Cultural Entrepreneurship. He has worked as a journalist for newspapers such as Folha de S.Paulo and Valor, and in communications for the Secretariat of Culture of the State of São Paulo before founding his consultancy company, JLeiva Cultura & Esporte. JLeiva has conducted numerous non-academic investigations in the cultural sector in Brazil, including mapping theater productions and independent music venues in the city of São Paulo, and the job market for professionals in the animation industry. Leiva has also led several studies on cultural engagement in Brazilian cities.
